Oops!

The air conditioning has broken in my car so it was some relief when the temperature dropped  back to the 30 degree mark.  This gave my neighbours fresh enthusiasm to clear up overgrown vegetation.  At my request my American neighbour climbed down to a flat bit of ground where a tree had grown about 6 feet in as many weeks, to lop it.  My job was to clear all the debris when it fell and drag it to a parking space in the courtyard.  The system was working well with another neighbour and her granddaughter joining in to help me clear the debris.  Meanwhile. up above us the American was in full swing, not stopping at 'lopping' the tree but cutting it right back to its roots.  Soon great big branches were hurtling down and that is when it happened.  One branch, instead of coming straight down to the ground decided to take a detour onto his garage roof, creating a big hole right above where his precious car, a Tesla, was being kept safe and sound.  My neighbour couldn't see what had happened so I was quite gentle when I called up to tell him that a branch had made a big hole  in the garage roof.  He was quite sanguine about it saying he would fix it later.  Another neighbour, Francine, and I went to inspect the car and breathed a sigh of relief that the branch had not actually fallen right through, although we did suggest that he move the car out before anything else happened.

I can't be bothered to watch the debates taking place in the UK between Sunak and Truss but in the reporting after the subject always seems to be the economy.  What about all the other problems requiring attention?  Like the fact that I don't have a vote!

Across the pond the law is creeping ever closer to Trump and his cronies but will they have the courage to go ahead and prosecute him?  In the other direction there was a report that Putin didn't go to Iran at all and that one of his doubles went in his stead.  I remember when Tito died the powers that be kept showing a picture of him sitting up in a hospital bed smiling, looking perfectly healthy and saying that he was on the road to recovery.  I can't remember how long they carried on  this farce but eventually they had to admit the truth.  As for Putin, they are talking about doubles, plural,  so on that basis he could stay in power for another 20, 30, 40 years.  Perish the thought.  And how would we know if someone had assassinated the right Putin?

French railway workers are striking 2 days in 5 for the next few months in protest against Macron's reforms.  To launch these strikes huge protests were organised in Paris but oh dear the strikers couldn't get there because the trains weren't running due to strike action.

stormy weather

Last evening there was a huge storm, lightning,  wind and torrential rain in Agra. This morning the devastation was clear. No power, 50 dead and hundreds of trees down. On the way to the taj mahal  I could see crushed cars, flooded streets  and so many trees.   Then out of all this destruction I arrived at the taj mahal. It doesn't matter how many pictures you see  they cannot compare to seeing this exquisite building rising up above you.  I have waited so long to see it and  it  is far better than I could have imagined.
