Symonds Yat

Here I am in Symonds Yat celebrating Christmas with my family, where the roads are the same width of the car and where it seems to either rain or one thinks it is raining because it is permanently damp.  Apart from the weather it is a perfect setting with a river running gently by and views across rolling countryside.  Everyone seems to know each other and the local pubs are full of locals mingling with visitors.  Except one which has a sign outside which states in large letters, LOCALS ONLY.  Well who would want to go there anyway?

After Johnson's ridiculous lies and party antics no-one seems to be taking him seriously.  He can spout his recommendations and rules to the public and they will ignore him or make up their own rules.  If you didn't spot the occasional mask you would not know that the pandemic still rages in the UK.

Macron will be pleased at the latest research that shows that 79% of the British people are genetically French. Or he could follow Putin's argument that if there are a lot of French people living in the UK then he has a right to invade and raise the French flag on top of the houses of parliament.

After making us all have a booster shot we are now told that it only lasts 10 weeks. Then what?

America is not the greatest democracy in the world, despite them keep boasting about it.  In fact it barely functions as any form of government and to prove my point a president launches a coup, is cleared of blame by his own party and is allowed to run again.  Even Johnson wouldn't get away with that one. Happy Christmas everyone and for heaven's sake can we please have a maskless new year.

French railway workers are striking 2 days in 5 for the next few months in protest against Macron's reforms.  To launch these strikes huge protests were organised in Paris but oh dear the strikers couldn't get there because the trains weren't running due to strike action.

stormy weather

Last evening there was a huge storm, lightning,  wind and torrential rain in Agra. This morning the devastation was clear. No power, 50 dead and hundreds of trees down. On the way to the taj mahal  I could see crushed cars, flooded streets  and so many trees.   Then out of all this destruction I arrived at the taj mahal. It doesn't matter how many pictures you see  they cannot compare to seeing this exquisite building rising up above you.  I have waited so long to see it and  it  is far better than I could have imagined.
