The good news is that the tennis club is opening the outside courts from this weekend and I have booked to play singles on Saturday. The downside of that is the courts are clay, which are not my favourite, I have only played 3 times since February last year and I am a year older, which still makes me the oldest woman in the club still playing.
The bad news is that France is still battling to give vaccinations out for the over 75s, no appointments anywhere, and they have opened up vaccinations for the 50 to 65 group, who can receive the Astra Zeneca vaccine. So what about my group 66 to 74? Well there is no news for us at all. Originally we were told that we could get vaccinated in February but now they say there is no date on the horizon.
And then there is the added problem in that talks are afoot on the subject of vaccination passports for those travelling and even those who want to play sport or exercise. This could cause huge discrimination.
This morning I rode my bike to the village shop and got caught in the rain. This is a shop I buy from at least twice a week. As I stood dripping water on the floor the woman behind the counter said I was 35cents short. I asked if I could come back later and pay the 35cents but she said no and took my shopping away. They know who I am, where I live. Whatsmore if I was standing in the queue behind someone who was 35cents short I would have offered to pay the difference but no-one did.
There is a big freeze in Texas and all the power systems have failed. The governor has blamed wind turbines. Interesting, I have been to the Arctic and seen wind turbines stuck on rocks in the middle of a raging sea in extremely cold temperatures but somehow they work. I think the governor may find that the oil and gas industry is more to blame.
